Elyse and Al Engagement | Indianapolis Indiana Engagement Photography

Elyse and Al strolled through the gardens of the Indianapolis Museum of Art hand-in-hand, laughing and smiling together, and it seemed as though the world around them disappeared. The love these two have is so sweet and tender, and you can see it in the way they look at each other like nothing else matters.

Al has lived in Indianapolis his whole life, and Elyse was the missing piece in his favorite place. She took a huge step years ago by moving to Indianapolis, but finding Al made it all worth it. These two have an amazing love for the city they call home, and wanted to include the skyline in our shoot as a homage to the place they met their future spouse.

Elyse and Al, I am so happy I get to shoot your engagement photos and spend time getting to know you even better! I can't wait for your wedding next year!

Alisha and Dakota | malibu Engagement Session

I heard someone say when I was young, the days are long but the years are short. At the time I thought, goodness it all feels long to me. Then..around 22 I felt like everything goes into warp speed.

I remember the first time Dakota kissed me, it was my 14th birthday party. A backyard bash with volleyball, snacks and a handpicked playlist of music burned on CD’s, very 2002. I was wearing a black halter top and feeling pretty good about myself, braces aside.

As the night ended Dakota and I were swinging in the multicolored hammock that hung on the edge of my parent's property line, my favorite place. I got up to walk him to the car (his dad was picking him up) and he put his arm around me as we walked and leaned in and kissed my cheek. Blushing like crazy and feeling like the luckiest birthday girl around, I missed all the signs the night was getting ready to turn out even more exciting. I think he leaned in twice or so before full on stopping in front of me to lay one on me. After, I hid on the side of the house and happy danced.  He still makes me that giddy.

I will infinitely be wishing I could freeze time, because I know each season will slip away just as quickly as the last 14 years. For me, photography is the closest thing to a frozen moment I can get, so I try and capture it all.

Happy one year engagement to us, he still makes me blush and gives the best spin around hugs.  Life with him is one long happy dance! Big thanks to Jessica Claire for making time stand still for us that day.  Forever thankful that my first love will also be my last.

Sendy and Sam | Evansville Indiana Wedding Photography

Sendy and Sam are special.  You see it in the way they look at each other, in the way Sendy's nose crinkles when Sam makes her laugh and how when Sam peeks her way he looks instantly full of pride and totally at ease.

These two met at the University of Evansville, where they both attended college. For Sendy beautiful small acts of service, complied to lead her to one day know this steadfast man was the one for her, Sam says it happened quicker for him, he knew from the beginning, instantly falling in love with her smiles and outlook on life.  These two just get each other. They're warm, fun and totally in love.

Sendy and Sam were married at St. Benedict Cathedral in Evansville with its gorgeous high ceilings, amazing columns and architecture that's just inspiring.  After the beautiful and moving ceremony, we headed to 20 West in Newburgh for the reception. Sendy and Sam's joy radiated and amplified around all their friends and family. Since Sendy is from a Vietnamese family, the two wore traditional Vietnamese clothing during the reception! It was such a cool way to celebrate the joining of two families and cultures.

Sendy and Sam, I adore you and I feel blessed to call you friends. I loved getting to be a part of your special day and I wish you a lifetime of happiness and love!

Crowd Pleasing Catering: Mathayom Private Chefs| Alisha Sims Photography

Mat picked Dakota and I up from the St. John ferry landing on a Friday afternoon.  I found St. John Catering via Jenn Johnson an event planner/designer on St. Thomas only 12 hours before and somehow Mat managed to squeeze us in for a tasting.  As soon as Jenn heard about our vision for the wedding she insisted Mat would be the man for the job. And boy did he not disappoint! He blew every other caterer we met with out of the water!

Once we arrived, the entire staff made time to come introduce themselves and get to know us. Mat whipped up fresh mojitos with mint from their garden and they presented two courses plus dessert; completely blowing us away. We toured the kitchen, learned about Mat’s homemade kumbotcha and listened as they detailed their cooking style. One thing was for sure, they lived for going above and beyond and serving up interesting fusion cuisine.

When Dakota couldn't hide his quiet enthusiasm, I knew this was the team we were hiring. While photography is clearly the number one on my wedding priority list, an amazing, memorable dining experience is at the top of Dakota’s.  He comes from a family of foodies and we want to cater to their eclectic taste.

Mat is known locally for his full moon dinners. While he mostly caters events, once a month he hosts an evening of fine dining and shares new dishes during each full moon. We love it. Is it December yet?

Devon and Nick | Evansville Indiana Engagement Photography

Nick sat across from Devon watching her as she got her hair styled before their engagement session. (Most guys don't attend this portion of the getting ready process) Nick told Devon he took the day off because he just simply wanted to spend the day with her! How sweet is that! They joked and I learned more about their relationship. These two met in preschool, dated in middle school and are now engaged. They're from a small town in Kentucky and decided to shoot their engagement pictures close to home where they fell in love!

The engagement session took place in Vastwood Park located in Hawesville, Kentucky.  We spend the session making our way around the lake in the heart of the park.  Each corner offered a cool new spot to shoot! These two giggled and snuggled their way through the shoot making it easy to document just how in love they were!

Nick and Devon, I really enjoyed getting to know you both and getting a peak into where you grew up. Your love for each other shines bright in each image! Wishing you all the best as you continue to plan your wedding and start your life as husband and wife!

Nicole and Adam | Evansville Indiana Wedding Photographer

When Nicole and Adam contacted me about taking their wedding portraits, I was so excited! They have been together for about nine years, and decided it was probably time they got married! So, they got all dressed up, ordered a bouquet, bought rings, and headed to the courthouse! Nicole told me during our shoot that they were surprised at how casual the whole experience was- their minister was wearing jeans-  but they wouldn't change it for the world. I love that a wedding for them was something that was personal, private, and just like their love, simple and classic.

Nicole and Adam are both from Nashville, but decided to call Evansville home about 5 years ago! They are the pet parents of a giant Great Dane, who they say thinks he is a lapdog.

Nicole and Adam, I am so happy I get to be a part of your love story, and that you'll have pictures to commemorate your big day!

Leilani and Brian | Evansville Indiana Wedding Photography

I"m really excited to share this artistic shoot! Leilani and Brian's wedding had a whimsical vintage theme, which perfectly suits their timeless love. So when planning their post wedding portrait session we wanted to make sure to select places that beautifully reflected that theme. We landed on The Old Courthouse and Willard Library both located Downtown Evansville Indiana.

Leilani studied photography during her undergrad studies as well as teaches the subject at the Day School. So I was extremely honored to be chosen as this couples photographer!

Leilani and Brian, your love just shines! It was an honor to be part of your love story, wishing you so much happiness in the years to come!

Kelly and Will Engagement | Evansville Indiana Photographer

I had the privilege of shooting Kelly and Will's engagement session in Audubon State Park, and in their first home!!

Kelly and Will are so much fun to be around! These two are a perfect fit. Together they love brewing beer, snuggling by the fire and traveling!

Kelly is a journalist, and Will is an engineer. Kelly has accepted a job in Salt Lake City, Utah, and told me how happy she is to have her engagement pictures to hold onto while she and Will live apart before he moves out to Utah with her!

Kelly and Will, It was an absolute joy to work with you two, and I am so glad to be a part of your love story and I can't wait for your wedding!

Alex and Will | French Lick Indiana Wedding Photographer

Alex and Will's relationship is special.  It's visible in the way Will's eyes beam with pride when he looks Alex's way and you can feel it when Alex giggles extra big when she's wrapped in Will's arms. Friends and family boast their relationship makes each of them better and I couldn't agree more, these two are just the best!

Alex and Will were married on a chilly day in early February at the French Lick Hotel in French Lick Indiana.  The sun streamed through the windows creating a magic glow that seemed to follow Alex in every direction.  Surrounded by friend and family the two promised forever. As everyone move into the reception their love was palpable, you could feel it everywhere you turned.

Alex and Will, I've had so much fun with you two this past year! It's been a privilege to get to know you and to diary your love story!  Wishing you all the happiness as you go through life together!

Alex and her dad are the definition of father-daughter relationship goals. These two adore each other!

Look at that grin!

When you know, you know! : The Sand Dollar Estate | Alisha Sims Photography

Once we determined St. Thomas was the place for our wedding, first up on my agenda was securing a venue.  Each year when we come to St. Thomas we stay at Frenchman’s Cove, so we heavily debated getting married there, but we really wanted a more intimate setting that didn’t include sharing our guests with a hotel full of other people. We only get to see most of these people once a year! As I feverishly searched I found Sand Dollar Estate on Home Away and I fell in love.

And true to our nature, I was ready and sure this was it well before my responsible counterpart. Where I sometimes base decisions on that perfect feeling (sometimes when you know you just know) Dakota’s sensible and beautifully studious; a practical decision maker. In my opinion these qualities make us the perfect team even if most of the time he’s teaching my extreme patience and I’m working to help him find some passion.

With three separate houses on the property it allows everyone to be together but still allowing for proper distance for privacy and alone time.  As we toured the property it exceeded all expectation. Decks on decks, space on space and the view…. it literally gives my stomach butterflies.  We're over the moon excited to share our favorite vacation spot with all our favorite people.

With Dakota everything falls perfectly into place as we stood in the surprise tropical shower and took in the view, all my wedding stress washed away with the rain.  And I knew that trusting that perfect feeling would never let me down.
